🤝 What is IEEE SB SIGHT Group?

IEEE Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology (SIGHT) is a global network of IEEE volunteers dedicated to applying engineering knowledge and technological innovation to address real-world humanitarian and social challenges. SIGHT works closely with underserved communities, non-profit organizations, and local partners to co-create sustainable, ethical, and impactful solutions. The initiative focuses on improving quality of life by promoting community-driven development, empowering local stakeholders, and ensuring that technology is accessible, inclusive, and socially responsible. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, IEEE SIGHT encourages students and professionals to transform innovative ideas into practical solutions that create long-term positive change in society.

This Competition is designed to provide a supportive platform where aspiring minds can explore, develop, and present technology-driven solutions to real-world social and humanitarian challenges. Who Can Participate?

  • Open to all DIU and all other university students (undergraduate and graduate)
  • Both individual participants and teams are welcome
  • Team size: Maximum 4 members per team
  • Each participant can register for only one team
  • All projects must be original and developed during the event

Important Rules

  • All ideas must focus on humanitarian impact
  • Plagiarism will lead to immediate disqualification
  • Submission format: PDF presentation or PowerPoint (max 10 slides)
  • Ideas must align with at least one of the focus areas
  • Shortlisted teams will be required to pitch their ideas in person
